Reviews about Agu Ramen Bistro
- 3 / 5By Bert N.The service was great. The decor was reminiscent of an izakaya in Japan. The ramen was good, but for the price I was paying ($13-23), I expected more. I ordered takoyaki as an appetizer. It was a good value (6 pieces for $5), but my best guess is that it was frozen and then deep fried. It's conveniently located at the old Cold Stone location at Pearlridge Downtown. Agu has a lot of different styles of ramen to choose from, but as far as I'm concerned Goma Tei has this place beat in terms of value (price and portion size).March 19, 2017

- 5 / 5By World Wide EdOne of my favorite ramen restaurants in Hawaii is finally open on the west side. Located in Pearlridge (shopping center) Downtown next to Hot Topic and HIC and across Aloha Salads and Kozo Sushi, this popular ramen chain will give long time staple Goma Tei (on the Pearlridge II Uptown side) a run for its money. My personal favorites are the Original Kotteri (Extra rich broth made with a black garlic oil, garlic chips & silky se-abura) or the Hakata style Tonkotsu (Authentic shio base with fresh ocean flavors from Hawaiian sea salt & dried konbu Topped with fresh house-made char siu, aji tamago, kikurage, takana, beni shouga & fresh negi). Mmm mmm mmmmmmmmm!
On opening day, owner Hisashi "Teddy" Uehara actually came in as a guest with his family. Talk about pressure for the staff. They did an excellent job and got our orders correct and filled in a timely fashion. One down side was that they didn't yet have their liquor license so they could not sell beer from their new bar, but that will be resolved soon enough. Just happy that there is another option for yummy Japan style ramen on this side of the island now.October 31, 2016
